Gene Cox
Gene Cox came to Fox 59 from WXIX-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio where he was a Weekend Anchor/Reporter. Prior to that Gene worked as a 5 p.m. Anchor/Reporter at KIII-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas, a Reporter at WDRB-TV in Louisville, Kentucky, a Reporter/Anchor/Managing Editor at WVLT-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee, a Weekend Anchor at WBIR-TV in Knoxville, and a One-Man Band Reporter at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute.
The Associated Press has recognized Gene for Outstanding Journalism. He was honored in both high school and college as "Best" in Broadcast Journalism studies. His work has also been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists.
Gene was born and raised (near) Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated in 3-1/2 years from Loyola University in New Orleans with a degree in journalism and a minor in political science. Gene is a proud member of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, a disease his father battled before passing away while Gene was in college. He is also a member of the Investigative Reporters & Editors Organization.
Through his work, Gene is glad to be able to give a voice to the voiceless and is extremely satisfied when he can help police catch criminals.
In his spare time, you can catch Gene scuba diving. Gene lives in Madison County.
